From Injury to Independence
Dawn came to The Medical Suites at Oak Creek in February 2026 following a fall at home that resulted in a left ankle fracture. Initially non-weight bearing while awaiting orthopedic follow-up, she worked closely with therapy on safe transfers, including pivots and slide board techniques.
After her follow-up appointment, Dawn progressed to weight bearing as tolerated in a CAM boot. From there, she quickly advanced beyond the slide board, returning to standing, pivot transfers, and eventually walking with decreasing assistance each day.
By discharge, Dawn had regained her independence and was able to safely return home on her own.
Dawn shared nothing but positive feedback about her stay, describing the therapy team as creative, challenging, fun, and very knowledgeable. She especially appreciated that the therapists took time to explain each exercise and helped her understand the purpose behind her treatment, making each day a learning experience.
While she said she will miss the staff and therapy team, Dawn is happy and proud to be heading home.

From Long-Term Hospital Stay to Walking Independently
Will came to The Medical Suites at Oak Creek in April 2025 after spending two years in the hospital and being unable to return home. From the beginning, his goal was clear: obtain bilateral prosthetics and regain enough independence to transition to a new living situation.
With coordination from the therapy team and support from SRT Prosthetics & Orthotics (now ForMotion), Will was successfully fitted with bilateral prosthetics. Through multiple trials, adjustments, and consistent therapy sessions, he made remarkable progress.
By discharge, Will was ambulating independently with a two-wheeled walker and his new prosthetics, achieving a major milestone in his recovery journey.
Will shared that his favorite part of therapy was the team itself, the structured workouts and treatment sessions, and the consistency of the plan that helped him reach his goals. He spoke highly of both the therapy and nursing teams and expressed how happy he was to be walking again.
